METRO MANILA, – Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will officially be sworn in as the 17th Philippine president on June 30, 2022.
The namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., who ruled the country from 1965 until he was ousted by a peaceful revolt in 1986, Marcos Jr. is set to hold his inauguration ceremony at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.
In a June 25, 2022 Facebook post, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced road closures around the area for security reasons.
The MMDA also outlined alternate routes for private and public-utility vehicles, including drivers traversing the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
The agency said it will deploy more than 2,000 personnel, including ambulances and tow trucks.
Marcos Jr. bagged a landslide victory in this year’s presidential election with over 31 million votes. His nearest rival, opposition leader and outgoing Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, only got around 15 million votes.
