Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Motors is all but a part of a much larger corporation, the Mitsubishi Group. The keiretsu first began building cars in 1917 under its shipbuilding wing. However, it would be a very long time before the Japanese automaker would start making mass-market models. Mitsubishi would go all out in manufacturing in the 1960 and, since then, have come up memorable models such as the Galant, Lancer “Box-Type”, Cimmaron, and more.

Mitsubishi in the Philippines

Mitsubishi set up shop here in the '60s as Chrysler Philippines Corporation. The car company has weathered some storms in the country and later became the only auto manufacturer to have never stopped production in the Philippines. Despite those challenges, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines have come up with iconic cars with the Lancer Box Type being the definitive car of the '80s. These days, they are the second-largest car company in the country and local manufacturing continues to this day.

What are the Mitsubishi models sold in the Philippines?

These days, the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines line-up is much simpler and slimmed down compared to before. The company said that they will focus more on MPVs, crossovers, pick-ups, and SUVs in the future, and that's reflected today. The only passenger cars they offer are the Mirage Hatchback and Mirage G4. Mitsubishi indirectly replaced the Adventure with the Xpander in 2018. After that, the company expanded that model line by introducing the Xpander Cross in 2020. Locally, Mitsubishi does not have a crossover to offer. Instead, you'll have to jump straight to the Montero Sport if you want something substantially high off the ground. These days, the said SUV takes over the role vacated by the recently discontinued Pajero. Meanwhile, the Strada pick-up remains one of the best-selling pick-ups in the country. As for those who need a serious load carrier, Mitsubishi also revived the L300 recently.
