When it comes so compact and subcompact vehicles, you can bet that Suzuki has a model participating in that class. The small MPV segment is no exception. The Japanese company&#39;s entry into the competitive category is the Ertiga.

First introduced in 2012, the Ertiga was one of the first models to up against the Toyota Avanza. It did several things different compared to the Toyota, namely its body construction and driven wheels. In some ways, the Ertiga ended the sales dominance of the Avanza in its segment by splitting the difference.

The Ertiga proved successful enough for Suzuki to come up with a second generation. It was launched in the Philippines in 2019 featuring a new chassis, a larger engine, and a more spacious interior. This time around, the Ertiga has to face of more competitors, but it still has a lot to offer for those looking for small yet spacious MPV.

If you&#39;re looking for an affordable way to get seven seats, the Suzuki Ertiga might just be your ticket. Whether it&#39;s new or used, the Ertiga is typically less expensive to buy than its competitors. But is there more to it than just the price advantage?

In terms of reliability, the Ertiga seems to be holding up well. However, there are a few reports of quality issues, namely its paint finish and interior rattles on some models sold here. However, if there is one department the Ertiga needs improvement, it&#39;s in safety. Yes, airbags and anti-lock brakes are standard, but the crash test performance isn&#39;t as good as its competitors. The Ertiga is also unavailable with stability control that helps prevent accidents from happening in the first place.

That said, the Ertiga still has a lot to offer. Suzuki maximized the space efficiency of the Ertiga by giving it fold-flat third-row seats and a second-row that can slide forwards or back. The light steering won&#39;t thrill anyone, but it makes up for it by being light and easy to maneuver. The ride is worth commending, too, being one of the comfortable choices in its class. Despite the rather dated four-speed automatic, it still delivers decent fuel economy. All in all, a good buy in terms of value, but Suzuki needs to boost its safety features.
