When it comes to luxury cars, the word affordable doesn't come up very often. While it's not often anyone can say a PHP 4,000,000 car is easily within reach, you have to take a look at its value. At that price tag, you expect even more for what you paid for.

That's what BMW Philippines aims to deliver with the 2022 520i. At PHP 4,290,000, their goal is to offer the best value mid-size luxury sedan in the country today. Let's see what this model can give you for that price.

Luxury cars are all about comfort and convenience, so this is what comes standard in the 2022 520i. It has power roller shades at the back, along with soft-close doors, and automatic trunk open and close functions. The trunk can also be opened hands-free by swinging your foot under the rear bumper. Other neat features include automatic dimming rear and side-view mirrors, memory seats, and quad-zone automatic climate control.

There is also an emphasis on safety with the 2022 520i. The car comes equipped with seven airbags, along with stability control, 360-degree parking sensors, and even an automatic parking system that BMW calls Parking Assist. Tire pressure monitoring and ISOFIX child seat mounts are included in the package.

Powering the Philippine-spec 520i is a 2.0-liter turbo engine that puts out 184 PS and 290 Nm of torque. Official factory performance numbers say it can do 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and can get up to 17.2 kilometers per liter in mixed driving conditions.

So how was BMW Philippines able to pack in that much features for less that PHP 4.5 million? That's because the new 5 Series sold here is assembled in Malaysia. It also means that these cars are built to handle the tougher climate and humid conditions in the country. So if you're in the market for a German luxury sedan, the price of the new 5 Series might convince you.
