Toyota Corolla Altis gets the GR Sport Treatment

Toyota Corolla Altis gets the GR Sport Treatment

Updated on July 25 2024

Toyota is keen to expand the Gazoo Racing brand by putting that badge to various models. From the Vios to the Supra, there are also different levels of the Gazoo Racing performance arm. The GR-S models are mostly cosmetic upgrades, while the dedicated GR models are much more hardcore.

The latest car to wear a Gazoo Racing badge is the Corolla Altis, but in this case, it's the GR Sport. For now, it's available in Taiwan but it should be interesting if Toyota Motors Philippines offers it here too. So what does the GR Sport Corolla Altis have to offer on top of the standard version?

As mentioned, the GR Sport package makes the car appear more aggressive from the outside. For the Altis, it gets a unique front bumper treatment with a lower apron and faux corner inlets. It also gets a grille with a larger opening. From the side, car gets gloss black highlights on the side mirrors, along with exclusive multi-spoke two-tone alloy wheels. As for the rear, the most notable change are the clear-cover tail light housings and the sharper-looking bumper.

But aside from the exterior and wheel package, what else did Toyota do with the GR Sport Corolla Altis? You will have to go under the chassis to see the changes. For instance, the car uses high-performance tires to enhance grip. Toyota also installed stiffer springs and dampers to improve cornering. Thicker anti-roll bars then help the car turn in sharper around the bends.

It's not only Taiwan that gets the sport package for the Altis. Latin America can also get this model, although it is simply called the Corolla over there. For now, if you want a sedan with the GR Sport look, you will have to go for the Vios. And if it's second-hand Vios or other used Toyota models you are looking for, Automart.PH is here to help.
