Geely PH Getting Ready To Launch 2022 Emgrand
Updated on December 25 2024
In its current form, Geely is best know for their high-riding models. It was spearheaded by the Coolray, followed up by the Azkarra, and further expanded the brand's reach with the Okavango. With those three models established, Geely takes aim at the sedan market.
The model Geely will launch soon is the Emgrand, and it's gunning for a slice of the B-segment sedan market. The B-segment sedan crown includes some established heavyweights such as the Mirage G4, City, and the Vios. That said, Geely is not saying what the exact model is, but it is largely confirmed due to the teaser photos.
So what can we expect from the Emgrand? Looking at the specs from the home country's website, the sedan is larger than most of the cars it is targeting. The Emgrand is 4638 mm long, 1820 mm wide, and 1460 mm tall. For comparison, the Toyota Vios is 4,425 mm long, 1,730 mm wide, and 1,475 mm tall. That means you can expect more space in the Emgrand since its measurements are more for the compact market than subcompact.
As for the engine, the Emgrand uses a 1.5-liter, non-turbo mill with four cylinders. It's a break from all the turbocharged three-cylinders the manufacturer has been offering in the country. Power is good for 114 PS and 147 Nm of torque. Transmission options offered abroad include a five-speed manual or CVT with eight simulated gears.
As for pricing, Geely might take a similar approach to the MG5. That means it could be priced from PHP 700,000, all the way to PHP 1,000,000 for the top of the line model. Full specs and features are unknown at the moment, and Geely Philippines has not announced the exact launch date. Either way, it will be an exciting and interesting competitor in the local sedan market.
But if you're looking for a second-hand Geely model, we can help you out. At Automart.PH, we occasionally get these cars and put them for sale. As Geely continues to gain even more traction in the Philippines, you can expect more used examples in the future.
