Have A Slice Of America With The 2022 Ford Explorer Limited, F-150 Diesel

Updated on July 25 2024

If you're in the market for a new pick-up or SUV these days, you might want to swing by the Ford dealership soon. That's because Ford Philippines has introduced two all-new models straight from the US. These are the fourteenth-generation F-150, and the fourth-generation Explorer.

The F-150 was launched in the country a few weeks ago. What makes this model special is the fact that it's the first time the F-150 received a turbodiesel engine. The larger F-250 (and larger) models were always available with a turbodiesel. With that, Ford Philippines chose that engine for the local market. This comes several months after Ford Philippines released a limited run of the thirteenth-generation F-150 in the country.

The 2022 F-150 Lariat has a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel that packs 250 PS and, more importantly, 597 Nm of torque. As for design, it's easy to mistake it for the outgoing model, but Ford says they made aerodynamic enhancements to improve refinement and fuel efficiency.

Per the manufacturer's claims, the F-150's Powerstroke turbodiesel can get up to 9.4 kilometers per liter in city driving, and 12.75 kilometers per liter on the highway. The diesel F-150 is the only variant available in the Philippines.

But the more recent launch is the fourth-generation Explorer. It's been out in the US for quite some time already. But after ironing out the kinks of the first model year units, Ford Philippines has finally brought in the redesigned and reengineered version. It switches to a rear-wheel drive platform, along with other major mechanical changes. Despite the larger looking appearance, it is actually about the same size as the previous generation.

Like the F-150, there will only be one variant of the Explorer to be offered for the Philippines. It's the Explorer Limited EcoBoost, the upper mid-spec model in the US. That said, it's got a decent features and equipment list. For instance, it has a Bang and Olufsen sound system, a large 8-inch touchscreen, twin-panel sunroof, and triple zone climate control, just to name a few. Ford has also fitted the Explorer with 360 Co-Pilot active safety system.

The Ford 360 Co-Pilot system comes with the following features: 360-Degree Camera, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning and Dynamic, Brake Support, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Evasive Steering Assist, and Lane-Keeping System. Other advanced safety features include Post-Collision Braking, Reverse Brake Assist, Hill Descent Control™, and Hill Start Assist.

As for the engine, the 2022 Explorer for the Philippines is powered by a 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Dubbed the EcoBoost, this engine makes 304 PS and 420 Nm of torque. Four-wheel drive is standard, along with seven drive models, namely Deep Sand, Eco, Normal, Sport, Tow Haul, Trail, and Slippery.

Now, let's talk about pricing. The F-150 Lariat Powerstroke Diesel starts at PHP 3,398,000, while the Explorer carries an SRP of PHP 2,298,000. You may inquire about these vehicles at your nearest Ford dealership.

But if that's too much money for you, the market has a lot of used Ford Explorers around. As for F-150's it's unlikely you'll see them this early. That said, you can always check out our website and look out for second-hand Ford Explorers that come our way.
