Isuzu Philippines is getting ready to launch the 2022 Mu-X

Updated on July 25 2024

This is the moment local Isuzu fans have been waiting for.

Months after the all-new D-Max was launched, Isuzu Philippines has confirmed the arrival of the 2022 Mu-X this year. That's because they have opened the reservation slots for their best-selling SUV. For now, Isuzu Philippines didn't say when they will launch it, but this move means it's not too far away.

Isuzu launched the second-generation Mu-X in Thailand last October and has since been offered in Australia as well. But once it's launched in the here, it will serve as the world debut of the left-hand drive models. That is a significant move as the Philippines is one of the most important markets for the Japanese diesel experts.

For now, we don't know what features the Philippine version of the Mu-X will have. However, there are a few things we can expect from it. This is because it is largely based on the D-Max pick-up, so the Mu-X is likely to have similar specifications.

We can expect two engine options for the 2022 Mu-X. The base and select 4x2 models will likely use the 1.9-liter RZ4E turbodiesel engine. The compact engine puts out 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque. High-spec 4x2 and 4x4 versions will definitely have the 3.0-liter turbodiesel. While that engine is still based on the one used in the outgoing Mu-X, it has been upgraded for the redesigned version. Instead of 177 PS and 380 Nm, the tweaked engine now makes 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque.

As for transmissions, we can expect either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. Traction control, stability control, and other active safety features are also expected. The most expensive Mu-X variant is also likely to have the top spec D-Max's adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking system as well.

Now, for the price, and that is still unknown at the moment. Since Isuzu typically undercuts the competition, we're expecting the SRP to be lower than that compared to the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Toyota Fortuner. But one thing is for sure, it will be more expensive than the current generation.

If the prices are a big jump from before, perhaps it's time to consider the current generation; specifically, a used one. Here at Automart.PH, we have Isuzu Mu-X units that come in from time to time. Not only that, they're significantly much less from the ones in dealerships right now. So take a look at what's in stock right now and book an appointment with us.
