Sedan or SUV: Which is the Right One for You?

Sedan or SUV: Which is the Right One for You?

Updated on April 20 2024

Choosing which vehicle to buy is not as easy as it seems. Before you think about the make and model of the vehicle you want to purchase, you first need to find out if whether an SUV or a sedan is the ideal choice for your specific lifestyle. Both have their pros and cons which makes the selection process harder than it already is. One thing you need to take into consideration is to not only look into what you need right now but think about your needs in the future as well. Here’s a small list that highlights the differences between an SUV and a sedan.

1. Looks

Sedans have a sportier, streamlined look compared to the bulky exterior design of SUVs. Most sedans are built to be more aerodynamic than SUVs, however, innovations in SUV designs have made then less boxy compared to earlier models.

2. Suspension and Ride Height

Sedans have a lower ground clearance than that of SUVs, making them harder to drive on rough and uneven terrain. SUVs, on the other hand, are built with higher ground clearance and a stronger suspension system designed for a more comfortable off-road driving experience. Higher ground clearance is an advantage because our country is so prone to flooding when the rainy season arrives. On the other hand, higher ground clearance can make it difficult for the elderly such as our grandparents to properly get into an SUV.

3. Storage and Seating Space

If you have a family, then an SUV is the ideal choice for you. Because SUVs are bigger, they have a bigger seating capacity as well. Up to six to seven people can fit inside an SUV while sedans can only carry a maximum of around 5 people. When it comes to storage space, SUVs are the better choice as well.

4. Fuel Economy

Because sedans are smaller, they tend to be more fuel-efficient than bigger SUVs. Also, most sedans today come with either an entry-level four-cylinder or a v6 which enhances their fuel efficiency.

5. Performance

Sedans are not as big as SUVs, making them easier to drive and park. This is particularly good if you’re looking for a vehicle that will easily get you around the city. An SUV, on the other hand, may also be a good city vehicle, but with its bigger profile, driving and parking it will be more difficult. An SUV does give you the option of taking it off the road which is perfect if you love going on outdoor adventures during the weekends.

6. Price

When it comes to price, SUVs are generally more expensive than sedans. This is because SUVs are bigger and tend to consume more fuel.

In the end, buying a vehicle comes down to your personal preference, but hopefully; these small comparisons will help you decide the right vehicle for you. If you’re looking for high-quality and affordable vehicles, Automart.ph is the place for you.
