All-new 2022 KIA Carnival lands in the Philippines

Updated on July 25 2024

Despite the challenges, January 2022 has been a strong month for the automotive industry. Not even a month in the new year, there have been several new car launches already. From mainstream models to luxury vehicles, the first month has been busy for manufacturers.

The latest to announce an all-new model coming soon is Kia. Following the launch of the new logo and the redesigned Sorento, the company has followed that up with the next-generation Carnival. The fourth-generation Carnival was launched in South Korea a few months ago, and now, it has landed in local ports. For now, there are no full specs or details, but it is expected to be in showrooms before the end of Q1 2022.

The all-new Carnival rides on the same platform as the 2022 Sorento, and Kia says they have made it look more like a crossover than a minivan. That said, it still retains the traditional sliding door to make access much easier. The design follows the current language of the company, and it also wears the new corporate logo.

Inside, it adapts a more modern and minimalist look. Screens dominate the dashboard and it features niceties such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other interior highlights expected are leather trimmings, Ottoman seats, and a host of other interior creature comforts. Thanks to its larger body, you can also expect more space inside.

Engines are unknown at the moment, but there is a good chance that it will have a turbodiesel engine. Based on the South Korean version, the local model could come with a 2.2-liter diesel with 202 PS and 441 Nm of torque. That said, Kia Philippines could also offer the 3.5-liter GDI V6 with 294 PS and 355 Nm of torque. Either way, both models use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Prices are still unknown but it might hover around the 1.8 to 2.5 million peso mark. Reservation books are now open for this model.
